| November Main Event - Oregon Coast Salmon Fishing, Winter Steelhead Fly Fishing Our November Main Event will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 6:00 PM. We'll be hosting a presentation by fishing guide Doug Wilhite. He'll be teaching us about salmon fishing on the Oregon Coast and fly fishing for winter steelhead. A free dinner will be provided. Doug is a well-known fishing guide here in the Northwest and in SE Alaska. He has been a full-time fishing guide since 1989. As a child of missionaries to Kenya, Doug was able to lead what he calls a “privileged” life – every boy’s dream. After returning from Africa he was soon disenchanted with the fast paced American life and moved north to Kotzebue, Alaska. Later he returned to Newburg and graduated from George Fox University with a degree in education. After teaching a year, he began to pursue his God-given passion for outdoor life. See you at Jack's House - 42323 SE Oral Hull Rd, Sandy, OR 97055. If you have any questions, contact us. |

Turkey Shoot
Our first turkey shoot was a big success. We had about 60 shooters, novice and experienced, young and old,
guys and gals. Larry Ayers started it out by welcoming everyone and running down the safety rules for us.
To drive home the point, a couple of young men fired the first shots at two unsuspecting watermelons, demonstrating what a stray shot can do to a body.
We had a total of four trap throwers set up. Trap number two was reserved for beginner shooters and saw a lot of activity. Several brave young girls fired a shotgun
for the first time and were helped along by friends and dads. Watchers cheered as the girls hit thier first pigeon.
Thanks to the men who gladly loaned their expertise, guns, and shells to give these
newbies a chance to try the sport out.
In the picture below you can see our fearless (and I mean that - the guy is nearly fearless) leader Todd giving it a go. Unfortunately, two out of ten is just not going to win any awards. Sorry, Todd. Better luck next time.

To the guys from GSCC who showed up to run the trap throwers, take the stats,
help setup and teardown, and do all the other things it took to make this
happen, we offer up a hearty thank you. Let's do it again soon!
