Todd and I have been working together to build the crosstrackers.com web site.  As you can see, we have a lot to do.  What would you like to see on the site?  How should it look?  (I tend to favor the left side of my brain so creativity is not one of my strengths.) What type of information should in contain?

Feel free to post your suggestions as comments to this blog entry or send an email to webmaster@crosstrackers.com.

Fire away.

Re: Help us build the CrossTrackers Web Site, any suggestions?

What a great idea! Just found your site and really like the idea here. You need blogs for people to talk about various topics as on other fishing and hunting sites. Of course, sharing stories, ideas, and our love of Christ and his creation should also be part of it.

How about picture section where members can post pictures of their catch when wearing a CrossTrackers hat?

Steve,
Good ideas. We will definitely have a section for folks to post their catches and to share stories about the hunt. We'll also have articles from some of the experts that we know.

By the way, if you're around Sandy, OR, you're welcome to come out to our first meeting. See the announcement on our home page.

The site looking pretty cool. What if you set up a members only area where the general public could not access. Not completely restrict the website from outsiders. Perhaps a place where members could exlusively share ideas and information on hunting and fishing and not have the whole world know where your favorite spot is, etc. The picture section idea is pretty awesome.

Re: Help us build the CrossTrackers Web Site

John,

We're hearing from a lot of people that want to get thier kids involved. I'm with you. I like to get my 9 year old son Ethan out there learning how to shoot a gun and a bow and how to do it safely. We're talking about hosting and sponsering hunter safety courses for kids and also doing other things to get kids involved. Keep posted...

Re: Help us build the CrossTrackers Web Site

Hugo,

We're working on the members only section. We've heard from others that they would like a forum that allows the members to discuss things and to get questions answered by experts. So, that's coming down the pipe. Thanks for the ideas.

Re: Help us build the CrossTrackers Web Site

I like the photo gallery idea a lot. Here are a couple more ideas:

1. Can you add avatars to the blog?
2. I can help with resources for online mapping, aerial photography, etc. Here are some ideas:

www.terraserver-usa.com (aerial photography and USGS maps)
www.topozone.com (free USGS maps)
www.ormap.org/disclaimer.cfm (Oregon state-wide online mapping for parcels; usefull for identifying property owners and boundaries)
http://websoilsurvey.nrces.usda.gov/app/ (Natural Resources Conservation Service online database to get soil survey reports; may be helpful in identifying potential habitat from soil types--for the overly detailed type--kind of like me)
www.googlemaps.com
"Google Earth" application (real nice and better resolution than googlemaps.com)

It would be a nice help to users of the website to learn about some of this stuff and have it in one location.

Re: Help us build the CrossTrackers Web Site

I would love to help kids with hunter education. evan though we hear it all the time its true that kids are the future. and for are hunting fishing and evan religous rights and ways of life to live on without being banned we must educate other about how we feel on the subject. mabey its because we are used to being quiet out in the field that we outdoorsman dont speak up. Hey by the way I dont have any kids just like hanging out with them.
thanks for listening.
