I've never hunted East Oregon. I've done Saddle Mountain and Santiam Unit, pretty thick areas but the challenge makes for a better reward.

The breaks of the John Day river, until the rancher sold it.

Then Bickleton Wa, until the farmer got windmills.

My favorite spots seem to be short lived.

For Rat hunting I like Fort Rock, I used to have a field I had permission to hunt, I think I can still get the thing, we should get some guys and go. I have use of a house in Lapine. Its a kick.

Re: Share your favorite hunting spots - without giving away too much of the secret

Is there a public hunting spot for pheasants left in the state (Oregon)? My favorite spot for hunting elk/deer is based on scenery because I have been shut-out since I moved from California. That would be Lords Flat. Beautiful, lonely, wide-open, steep and deep. A little scary if you get snowed in--but thanks to Clinton bureaucrats, you have to pack in now. Those dastardly 4x4s ;)

I remember Jack H flying me in his Cessna 182 around the peaks and seeing two big horn sheep standing below the peak's rock outcropping. Awesome. Seeing the design of God in out-of-the-way spots is a testament to Him! It is amazing that there are people who think that happened by accident. If you can believe Genesis 1:1, everything else is easy.

I hunt the Alsea unit, and there are a couple spots with good deer but most of it is just being in nature seeing gods country. I love seeing nature come full circle, life and wilderness, and the great tasting food our creater provides.

Erick,

I hear you. Being in the outdoors, regardless of what I'm doing, is one of my greatest pleasures in life. It causes me to praise the Creator like few other experiences can.

I got your request for more information about becoming a member. Unfortunately, that form doesn't ask for your email address (I'm going to change that) so I don't know how to get a hold of you. Send an email to ronr at crosstrackers dot com so we can answer your questions and sign you up for our newsletter.

About becoming a member, we don't currently have formal membership. Right now everything is free and open to anyone who wants to be a part. After things get going, the club will decide what kind of formal membership, if any, we'll have.

The best way to get started would be to come to our next meeting this Saturday (4/12) at 6:00 PM. See the notice on the home page.

Favorite place for me is near Granite Oregon, for bow elk and deer!

The Granite by sumpter? I shot a five point in sumpter. We should maybe organize something in that area, I like that area also.
